About somemoms
somemoms is your Swiss platform for diastasis recti and health after birth. We curate evidence-based programmes and handpicked experts and offer reliable guidance, so you never have to manage your recovery and your symptoms on your own.
For every mother who wants to take her body seriously after birth when something is wrong. For every mother looking for guidance, information and help whose symptoms have not been taken seriously. Especially for mothers living with diastasis recti, a gap down the middle of the abdomen and the feeling that their own body has become unfamiliar. No matter whether the birth was weeks or years ago, and regardless of whether it was vaginal or by caesarean.
Diastasis recti
With diastasis recti the straight abdominal muscles move apart in the middle, because the connective tissue is stretched considerably during pregnancy. This happens to almost every mother. In most cases the gap closes in the first weeks after birth, but in 32% of mothers it is still there a year later. Typical signs are a belly that bulges out, a protruding navel, back pain or the feeling of being unstable and weak through the middle.
Many mothers notice the first signs in everyday life. Look out for:
- a gap or bulge in the middle of your abdomen
- severe back, hip or period pain
- a bloated belly after eating
- a navel that pushes outwards
- an unstable, powerless feeling through your middle
- not being able to carry your child for long
With our free self-test you can find out in a few minutes whether you are affected. Leave your email address and the PDF goes straight to your inbox. Or you book a free consultation, where we look at your story individually and help you further.
In the first weeks after birth a lot resolves by itself. If the gap remains, however, it rarely disappears completely on its own. The good news: in most cases a stable core can be built up with the right step by step approach.
Official aftercare usually ends after around eight weeks, but your connective tissue needs considerably longer before it can take load again. It takes almost a year for the tissue between the abdominal muscles (linea alba) to recover. Healing is not linear but comes in waves, and a large part of the change happens invisibly in the tissue. That is why we think of recovery in months rather than weeks and support you step by step.

What matters is that you develop routines over time. For example 10 minutes in the morning, 10 minutes in the evening, or wherever it fits best into your day.
You can start at any time. The easiest way is with a free consultation. We listen, make sense of your situation and show you the right next step, with no obligation. If you know that you have diastasis recti and no longer have open questions about the programme, you can book your coaching directly through somemoms. All further information and your access to the programme reach you by email right after booking.
